Onetahuti to Marahau with a Houseboat stay (Fully Catered)

Day One: We start your day with a half day’s guided paddling in the Tonga Island Marine Reserve, meeting the inquisitive NZ fur seal, then kayaking down the coast to beautiful Bark Bay. After lunch your unguided walk begins (12.1km on the high tide route and 8.4kms on a low tide route). It will take you over the swing bridge at Falls River, around beautiful Torrent Bay Lagoon, finishing at Anchorage Bay. Here you will be met by the friendly Aquapacker’s staff and whisked off to the houseboat for a hot shower (byo towel) and kiwi barbecue.

A full day kayaking on Day 1 from Onetahuti is Anchorage is available on request

Day Two: After breakfast spend the morning relaxing and enjoying the tranquility of our smallest (and we think most beautiful) park. Then walk over to Observation Beach to join our guided kayak adventure at midday. Paddle the sheltered Astrolabe Roadstead, and (time and tides permitting) visit Adele Island to experience the cacophony of birdsong that is re-emerging with the help of the Birdsong Trust. Then harness the sea breeze for an exciting sail back to Marahau.

2 day Seals & Shags paddle/hike/paddle

We did the two day kayak and hiking trip staying overnight on the Aquapackers houseboat. Great experience, great staff (thanks Ruby). Staying overnight was a real treat. Breaking up the two days into half days of kayaking and hiking worked well for us with opportunities for extra exploring or chilling out on the beach.

Perfect birthday present!

The 2- day Seals and Shags trip was a delayed birthday present for our daughter Steph on our visit to NZ. Paul and the team were so friendly, organised and knowledgeable, the trip was fantastic. Isaac led the first session, full of interesting facts about the area and its wildlife. Lunch hit the spot after a couple of hours' paddling. The overnight on the houseboat was really good, then Pete guided us back to Marahau round coves, caves and the swell in the bay. Highly recommend these guys!
